Disappointed

Every situation, even a pandemic, is a test of a person’s character. You thought you know a person, well…

My uncle, who’s a doctor, recently asked for help for donation of PPE (protective personal equipment). As we all know, PPE’s are needful in order to protect our frontliners who are already doing a lot to help patients who are sick with COVID-19. (And everyone who’s not in any essential business, please STAY AT HOME! Let’s do our part to #FlattenTheCurve) Coincidentally, I’ve a friend who’s doing a donation drive for PPE’s and distributing them to various hospitals. So I decided to get in touch with her, hoping she could divert some of the stuff to my uncle’s hospital.

She allotted some PPE’s for me, but she’s also in need of donations so she can purchase them. So I thought, hey, why not get the relatives and friends to contribute? If everyone gives even a little, put together, it’s a lot and could help out a lot of medical workers. So I sent out texts…

Guess what? Nobody responded! (except 1 aunt)

I have to say I’m disappointed. Maybe they’ve already donated elsewhere. Maybe they’re strapped for cash. Maybe they don’t trust me. In some places, people’s generosity in situations like this shone through. Maybe I’m just not inspiring enough. Maybe…I don’t know…

Anyway, I just wanted to express my frustration and disappointment. We’ll still donate to my uncle’s hospital, but it’ll be a much smaller pile than if we’d had more donations.

Stay safe, everyone!

Please note: This is not a call for donations.
