Read Wider Challenge

This is my own challenge. I noticed that I’ve read a lot of romance, because I like romance, but that makes me a narrow reader. (“Focused” has a nicer ring to it, but let’s call it what it is: “narrow”.) So, I’ve decided to widen my horizons by reading other types of books. Let’s see how I fare at the end of the year. 🙂 Even 1 per category would be good.

List of Categories:

1. Historical fiction. Lady of Eternal City by Kate Quinn. 5 stars.
2. LGBTQ. Right Back Where by C.E. Kilgore. 5 stars.
3. YA novel. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. 2/15. 5 stars.
4. Sci-fi or Mystery novel.
5. Fantasy novel. Uprooted by Naomi Novik. 5 stars.
6. A National Book Award, Man Booker Prize or Pulitzer Prize winner from the last decade.
7. A book that is a retelling of a classic story (fairytale, Shakespeare, classic novel, etc). Epic Fail by Claire LaZebnik. 3 stars. (Retelling of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen)
8. Graphic novel
9. A book published by an indie press.
10. A book published by an indie author.
11. Western novel.
12. Self or craft improvement book.
