Film Review: The Longest Ride

After Dear John and The Last Song, I swore not to watch a Nicholas Sparks’ movie again. Those two are just…wrecks of a movie (sorry). But a friend convinced me to try this one–The Longest Ride–and I was pleasantly surprised.

The story:

The story is primarily about Luke and Sophia, who are at crossroads in their life. Out on a date, they were going home with they rescued an old man. He was Ira Levinson, and he told them his life love story with Ruth, hoping that his story would help Luke and Sophia solve their relationship troubles.

Ira Levinson is the true romantic in the story. He has some of the best lines in the movie! In fact, I like his story with Ruth more than Luke and Sophia’s. I thought he and Ruth have great chemistry and are so sweet together. Luke and Sophia, for me, are rather meh.

The ending, now the ending! I meant the one with Ira. That was quite a twist. I love it!

“We shared the longest ride together, this thing called life, and mine has been filled with joy because of you.” ~ Ira Levinson

“I just want you to be happy, even if that ‘happy’ doesn’t include me anymore.” ~ Ira Levinson

“She had a great eye for talent, but I only had eyes for her.” ~ Ira Levinson

“I don’t know what the future holds but I know there is no future without you.” ~ Ruth Levinson

Light, fun and funny. Good for unwinding and relaxing after a hard day’s work.
