If I could give it 10 stars, I would!
PLAYING WITH FIRE is the magnificent, hot hot hot follow up to Flirting with Fire. What makes it hot? Dominant hero, saucy-mouthed heroine, power games in and out of the bedroom. Combine that with witty dialogue, and you’re in for an amazing ride you don’t want to end!
This book is so so good that I wonder how the author could top this one. Still, I’m willing to see her try with Wyatt’s book, Sparking the Fire.
BLURRED LINES is a raw, no-holds-barred portrayal of two best friends making the choice to become lovers, and it’s the best I’ve ever read!
There was no slow moment in the story; the stakes got progressively higher with each chapter, along with the tension. The pace was just right, and the writing flowed smoothly. The characters were empathetic, flawed and believable, and together, they were hot hot hot! There was no superfluous intimate scene, and I love that!
GAMEBOARD OF THE GODS is a great story, and while it may have been slow to start, some of the events/scenes were needed to set up the story and introduce the readers to the world of RUNA. I found them interesting and I enjoyed getting to know the fascinating world that Richelle Mead has built.
I’m interested to follow this series, just that I hope and pray the romance picks up from here on. 🙂
The heroine is meh, but Trevor is adorable and sweet and hot! He’s the main reason this book made the list!
What I love about TRUE NORTH is how Trevor lays himself wide open. From the start, he’s made it obvious that he’s sooooooooooo into Katie. Actions aside, he declares he likes her, and he was also the first to tell her he loves her. On National TV no less. While the book is written in Kate’s first person point of view, we can see very clearly how much Trevor digs her. I love love Trevor and I can’t help but root for him, even if who he wants is Kate Mosely, who I think doesn’t deserve him.
Read this, and fall in love with him. How can you not fall for a guy who said amazing things like this? (The “anon” and “doth” part is due to Kate’s request.)
“Anon, woman! What do I have to do, hire a skywriter? Anon! Trevor doth like Kate! Trevor doth want to see her gorgeous little face again!”
UPROOTED is an amazing story, a fantastic, magical adventure that can be enjoyed by young and old alike.
The engaging and unforgettable characters aside, the story flows in a way that compels you to read onwards. There are funny moments that bring comic relief, and surprising twists and turns in the plot that I didn’t see coming. The title also has layers of meaning, which I will not spoil here.
The story is straightforward at first, as it documents the happenings on Kerenza and the people’s subsequent adaptation to life on the ship to when things start to go wrong. Then, halfway through, there’s surprising twists and turns, causing the story to go in a different direction, and shocking revelations that fried my brains and made this a totally amazing read. Perhaps I should’ve seen those revelations coming, but I love it when an author (or authors) manage to surprise me!
Lastly, this is a story of sacrifice and courage and the indomitable human spirit. I can’t tell you how many times I was moved by a certain scene or how certain words struck me. Like, “It is moments like this that kill me.” All too often, wars and battles seem so far away from us, but in reading this, I have no doubt similar situations occur in war zones, situations where a man’s actions spoke of the very person that he is, situations where in the darkest night, the human spirit, courage and selflessness shine bright.
In THE LAST TIME I SAW HER, Ms. Robards took us on another terrifying, adventure- and suspense-filled ride. The tension never lets up as Charlie stumbles onto one horror after another. I have to say that this book takes the cake for having the most number of serial killers all loose and running around in the countryside.
The first scene was wonderfully characterized–Charlie’s hope, confusion, doubt, and finally acceptance are heartbreaking to read. How Charlie and Michael’s HEA came about was also a brilliant stroke–I didn’t think of that! It was hugely satisfying.
THE LAST TIME I SAW HER is the brilliant conclusion to the Charlie and Michael romance arc. It’s worth the ride to arrive here, at this stage in the series, as I’m sure lots of fans will agree. A must read!
The blurb seems to hint at this being an endearing story (how could it not with a hero with a disfigured face?), I grabbed the chance to read this story, and imagine my surprise and delight when it was so much more than I expected!
MISS LANDON AND AUBRANAEL is a delightful mix of historical and fantasy. It’s loosely a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, with a twist. Reading it is like peeling an onion, with layers upon layers being revealed with each chapter. It is also like a box of chocolates, containing wonderful surprises as you read onward.
It’s one fascinating story that I wish didn’t have to end!
SIX OF CROWS is a fantastic, page-turning spinoff from the author’s popular Grisha Trilogy. It is astounding and captivating, and the unforgettable characters and high stakes adventure will keep readers riveted to the pages for hours on end. I hadn’t read the Grisha Trilogy before diving into SIX OF CROWS and I’m happy to report that it didn’t mar my enjoyment and understanding of the story at all. That said, I’m going to amend this oversight while waiting for the sequel to SIX OF CROWS. Can’t wait!
A fantastic steampunk adventure from Jim Butcher!
The worldbuilding is superb, and there’s a great cast of characters. The author leaves us with hints as to future storylines and conflicts and I can’t wait to read the next books! However, as this just came out in September 2015, I expect I’ll have quite a wait coming.
